Father's Day 2015

Time it Takes to Read:

Fathers all over the nation: REJOICE!!  It is our day!  Well kind of.  It’s our Fathers Day, right? Right!  I mean we can’t really celebrate it for ourselves, can we?  Or can we?

“On July 19, 1910, the governor of the U.S. state of Washington proclaimed the nation’s first “Father’s Day.” However, it was not until 1972, 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official, that the day became a nationwide holiday in the United States.” History.com

So even the government didn’t know what to do with the holiday!  I mean we are only celebrating the men that raised us to be capable men of our own.  Yea there are some deadbeat father’s out there, just as there are deadbeat mothers.  But what makes this day fully special?  Why is it important to thank our fathers, by having a holiday for them?  Well it is easy, really.  Jesus taught us to pray, and when we pray it should be, “Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.” That being said: Yeah Father’s Day is a pretty big deal!

Jesus loved his Father, as we should love our Father as well!  We are also in God given a perfect example of what we are to be as Fathers!  Someone that cares about all of his children and teach what is meant to be taught!

“For He so loved the world, that He sent his one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life!” John 3:16

I want to take time and a moment of yours to point out that I have a pretty exceptional father!  So much in fact that I named my oldest after him, and me, but I did it as homage.  Through the years we have had our differences, as certainly all of you have done with your fathers!  My father has been there to help teach and guide me along the way; and as he taught me I, too, want to teach my boys!

Actions that my Father taught me include: compassion, selflessness, integrity, and pride. These are not just words to me.  These are not just words to live by, but actions to model yourself after.  As I live and breath I hope to be half the Dad mine was to me!

Addendum:  End of my day pictures!
