My fitness goals are chugging along! Well it’s been an interesting morning I’ve been up since 630 and I got way more accomplished and I plan on getting. I only meant to run a mile and then maybe do a couple of push-ups to see where that lead and see if I can get good at doing push-ups again. Ended up doing a mile on the elliptical and under 15 minutes which was for me amazing. The ultimate goal was to become faster slowly. I think I’m well on my way to becoming that!
Fitness Goals
My goal and fitness goals have been to set small goals throughout this whole process, making it easier and more obtainable. I had extra energy this morning, so I did extra work. I’ve been doing a lot of work outside in the humid weather, therefore; I do believe that this work is helping me get back into shape. I still do a lot of computer work. I love the computer work that I do because it’s self gratifying, quite frankly, instant gratification! There’s something to be said for being able to see work and people immediately like what you’ve done or what you’ve done with critical feedback the only way to get better. So like work, and working out, this is all part of the plan…
The plan is that I’ll be able to cut the waiting and started to see some resemblance of what I had just 10-15 years ago. I am excited to be able not to be fat again! You know, there are always added benefits to nothing heavy. The benefits being: not being hot and sweaty in the middle of a crowd, not having to be tired by strenuous activity quicker, libido goes up, makes playing basketball and drums with your children so much easier, and less not least you look better in the mirror (at least I do).
Workout
So today’s workout included 15 minutes of elliptical, working out on the kick bag including throwing combination punches and kicks for 10 minutes, interval training for 30 seconds: crunches, and finally planking. Total time working out: 32 minutes. Yesterday I ran on the elliptical for 30 minutes achieving a new goal of 2.18 miles in 30 minutes. I’m setting a small goal for myself: 5 miles in 45 minutes. When I was in the army that was the standard: 5 miles in 45 minutes.
Moving Forward
Next week I would also like to incorporate running on the pavement starting at quarter-mile increments. This week I’d also like to add in brisk walks with my wife and dog throughout the neighborhood. I am sure that Sarah will be on board with that. A mountain bike ride I believe is going to happen tomorrow as well.
FreedomSystem.org should be having a bike ride this weekend out at Bonneyville Mill. I’m not certain if it’s on the schedule or not. I need to talk to those guys: Dave and Adam!
Until next time:
Peace
