My Family

Time it Takes to Read:

Well hello again everyone!  In this edition of KennyLeeHolmes.com blog I am going to show the surface of my life.  What my life is consistent of and why it is important to me.  Furthermore; it is extremely important that we take a look at why it is important.

God centered. Family importance. Timeless love.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

I love my family.  There is no mistaking that.  My family comes first and foremost in my life as I am sure you can see if you just lightly peruse my site.  My children: Kenneth William Lee Holmes, Bradley Roland Holmes, and Addison Marie Holmes are everything to me.  Sometimes it is difficult to remember that they are little ones in need of guidance because they seem to do things on their own.  Well – except for Addi, she’s still too little.  But Kenny and Bradley – my gosh – you’d think they are little men.  Which is the goal for them: to become men!  And of course my wife is my muse.  She is my Calliope (most beautiful muse).  We work together in the house: cooking, cleaning, yard work.  We play together: board games, drink, board and card games, the occasional video game, and more.  Sarah is definitely my muse.  And we just celebrated her birthday on the 18th.  We had so much fun at Buffalo Wild Wings with our friends and family celebrating! Thank you to all that came out and made it!

The old cliché: “The family that plays together works together!” Is true.  Sometimes like every family we get lazy, and don’t do our chores at the appropriate times and then our house ends up smelling like little boys and dog.  But then we knock it out of the park by working together and getting the house clean.  The thing that our little boys love to do more than anything right now when it comes to “chores” is helping make dinner!  Little do they know they are learning a valuable skill that will take them far in this world!  Apparently you can make a ton of money working in a kitchen! Who knew?  Food Network – that’s who!

My father is always still trying to get me to work with him on something.  I love him, and I want to work with him on many projects, but being 500+ miles apart makes it difficult.  What we can do though is work through our site and do projects that are both capable of doing.  We also play video games via XBOX Live.  Or at least we try.  We just helped my Grandmother move up to his house.  And that was fun!  So we work together well to get that to happen.  Let’s face it: Dad’s a little bit of a momma’s boy!

Did I mention that my brother got promoted?  Yeah? Sergeant in the Wisconsin National Guard. He’s got his own line, too!  Pretty proud of my little bro!  He’s not Infantry, but, eh, you know how it is!  My little sister, Rachel, left St. Kates, and is going to University of Wisconsin, River Falls.  She’s happy to be living at home – makes it cheaper!

Family matters.  It really does.  But sometimes it is not always about your blood family.  You don’t get to pick them, but you get to pick your friends.  And sometimes your friends become your family.  Sarah and I have been blessed with many friends and are always anxious to spend more time with them.  Spending time with family is so important because they are the ones that help grease the wheels when they get squeaky.  They will also be the ones to “Gibbs slap” you on the back of the head to make sure that you get back on the right path.

And then the third type of family is your church family!  Your church family is important because they help you keep on the straight and narrow, and hopefully keep your eyes on the true prize – the Cross!

Until next time:

PEACE
