Thank You For Awarding Me Hometown Hero!
Wow! I am speechless! I was nominated and awarded the 95.3 Michiana News Channel’s Hometown Hero. This was quite unexpected, but quite appreciated!
I didn’t even know that I was nominated, and it was my wife that nominated me! She didn’t tell me anything! I did not know anything! I am excited to have been awarded this! My deepest gratis to those that allowed me to be awarded! It’s hard to even write this because I am not even certain that I deserve it, but I am excited. To be called a “Hometown Hero” is an honor that kind of chokes me up a little bit.
Casey Hendrickson, who is a radio host on 95.3 MNC, congratulated me on his discord during his live broadcast while listening. Consequently, people gave me get a whole lot of congratulations. It’s hard to acknowledge things that we do are good, but wanting to do nothing but make sure that I am helping others. I want to be able to use this as a way to plug the nonprofits that I volunteer for.
The Nonprofits I Support
FreedomSystem.org is a nonprofit that we started after one of my best high school friends suicided, who was also a US Marine. FSO teaches tangible skills: how to transition from military to civilian life, resume writing, job interviewing skills, and of course our flagship martial arts program. Moreover, the martial arts program teaches hapkido. Hapkido not only teaches self-defense but it teaches everyday things; especially, breathing.
Alpha Nerds Guild is a nonprofit that I helped create with John Burk. Alpha Nerds Guild is a nonprofit that is all about gaming and other nerdy things. We give video game consoles to veterans that cannot afford it, a PTSD or other limiting disability is required. Unfortunately, we cannot get game systems currently. The new gaming systems are being sold as quickly as they are being made.
Get Wet For A Vet is an organization that I help with through marketing. I build their website, but still a very good cause! They are creating a troop town! I am excited to see this come to fruition. This is much needed in our area due to the mass amounts of homeless veterans.
Hometown Hero
Wow! Just wow! Thank you again for this honor. I am deeply moved by this and look forward to being able to bring more to the nonprofits that I support. As always if you need anything from me, please let me know! Talk to you soon! Sláinte.
