Introduction of the Fun Summer
Summer is a season that has always been full of fun possibilities and adventures, and this year has been no exception for me. This summer has been an exhilarating and fun whirlwind, from exploring the beauty of Wisconsin to mountain biking thrills and even enjoying our new patio at our house. Amidst all the excitement, I also experienced some bumps in the road, figuratively and literally, with a broken rib. However, it was not just about me; my heart was filled with love and pride for my wife and incredible kids—Kenny W. L., Bradley, and Addison—and our impact at a memorable FreedomSystem.org event, “Remember.” Let’s dive into the roller-coaster of emotions that defined this busy summer!
Visiting the Fun Parts of Wisconsin
With its picturesque landscapes and my parents and their welcoming friends, Wisconsin has always been not what I look forward to doing since it is a long drive, and I have three kids and a dog all smushed into my Ford F150. However, I explored this northern exposure area with my family: mountain biking and golfing with my Dad. Hanging out with my sisters and brother and meeting Kyle’s new babies, Logan and Kay! It was a good visit. We were there for a week and it was very fun!
Thrills and Spills: Mountain Biking Adventure
Back home, the adrenaline junkie in me always seeks some heart-pounding experiences. Mountain biking has become the answer to satiate this desire for adventure. Together with like-minded friends and FreedomSystem.org’s Moutain Biking Association, we embarked on thrilling trails that challenged our skills and pushed us beyond our limits. The feeling of freedom as we soared downhill and the joy of overcoming obstacles left us with unforgettable memories and a stronger bond with our friends.
Sometimes, life throws unexpected challenges at us when we least expect it. While mountain biking the last time, I had a small mishap that resulted in a broken rib. The pain is a reminder that I am alive, but it also reminded me that I can’t quit when I get hurt; rather I have to keep riding to make it to the end. Broken rib at mile 6.1 of an 8.1 mile ride. Check out my Strava to see the map that I rode on!
Unfortunately; had to cancel my guys trip this year to Brown County because of an injured rib and Dave cut his hand gory bad. We may be able to get it in again soon! I look forward to my trips there!
A Patio Upgrade: Transforming Our Home in Elkhart, IN is “Fun”
Most of you know that we had our septic go out and we are still working on making our patio better! But we have grass! That is awesome! We are looking forward to being able to finish the firepit to have a big shindig here with friends – stay tuned for an invite – it’s going to be a blast! The patio has been great, so far, and I often sit out there at night with just the music and a cold brew or lemonade and just soak up the summer air. It’s relaxing and I love it. I never knew “Patio Life” was going to take me to such a place of nirvana. I love it and you should too!
Empowering Others: A Successful FreedomSystem.org Event
Amidst all the personal adventures, there was a bigger picture to be painted—a picture of impact and positive change. As part of the FreedomSystem.org, we organized a successful event to raise awareness and funds for a cause close to our hearts. Witnessing the community coming together to support the cause was a testament to the power of unity and compassion. It reminded us that we can make a difference, no matter how busy life gets. It was truly a blessing beccause of this we have already booked next year’s speaker – CPT Chad Fleming of Team Never Quit.
The Most Fun: My Wife and Kids, Kenny W. L., Bradley, and Addison
Throughout this busy summer, the most amazing moments were spent with my wife and three incredible kids—Kenny W. L., Bradley, and Addison. Kenny’s been on the All Star Team for Harris Little League and is an amazing catcher and all around team mate. He loves to be able to help his teammates without any struggle. Addison learned her new love for softball and we look forward to her loving that sport! Bradley has picked up on another instrument, the Baritone, and continues to excel with his guitar as well! Freaking blessed we are! Sarah and I are both working hard to make sure that they get all the advantages that they can so they can have a better life than me. But also maintaining that they have to earn their keep. They still do chores around the house and finally we got them to get their laundry in order!
Fun is Never Done
As this summer is still in full swing, I can’t help but feel grateful for the adventures, the love, and the lessons it has already brought. From exploring my parents neck of the woods to finding peace and inner-excitement in mountain biking and home improvements, each experience enriched my life in its own way. Even the challenges, like the broken rib, reminded me of the importance of resilience and embracing life’s unpredictability. Call me or send me a message so we can get together!
Until next time:
PEACE
