Wow! What a big season this was! There was a lot of frustration with the weather, but overall it was fun to get back into coaching! I got back into coaching after three years away; furthermore, at a new league. I head coached team Big C. My co-coach/assistant coach, Jeff Mast, was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better statistician and assistant coach.
Snowy Then Hot and Muggy and Rainy
This weather this year has been ridiculously crazy! We have been rained out, snowed out, heated out, and of course just not been able to be together because of school events. This year was still great, got to meet some really great kids, and got to teach my favorite thing in the world – baseball! Coaching Big C Lumber at Harris Little League has been a refreshing look at coaching and I am looking forward to next year.
Respectful Dialog
Maybe baseball is still in my veins, breathing it in and trying to teach it to our next generations. It teaches kids how to be the best version of themselves. It teaches them to be respectful and to have passion for something other than video games! Baseball teaches teamwork, responsibility, self-control, and respect; which, the world needs now more than ever! More importantly it teaches, or it should, us adults to see the world through kids eyes. Baseball teaches us core values and reminds us to teach that to our kids. I love watching kids learn to be the best version of themselves. We had one kid this year that was a talker, through and through a talker; however, tonight’s game – the Championship Game. – he took one for the team and got on base!
Winning is great, but not everything. Teaching respect, honor, integrity, and how to be a solid winner is the best! Baseball teaches us all of that if we take the time to make sure they learn it. And it’s easy.
From 6th to Championship Runner-Ups
Team Big C for the 2nd place in the league. We had a bunch of ups-and-downs and honestly many of us didn’t think we’d get this far. However; we beat 2nd place and 3rd place from being in 6th place to become runner-ups of the league. The parents of these young men were great and helped me teach how to win even when we lost. Thank you parents! Thank you for letting me be humbled to be your little men’s coach, and I pray they got something from me as much as I learned from them. Looking forward to next year as FreedomSystem.org is sponsoring a team and we will make this even better next year!
Time to Focus
Moving on to the next thing is me making my goals happen! Time to score now for my goals! Looking forward to making those goals happen… Early morning runs and late night walks with Sarah!
Until next time:
