Work is Work… Life is Living… God is Good!

Time it Takes to Read:

[read_time]

My lifestyle is in the mode of being relaxed as much as I can while not being lazy.  I am not a lazy individual.  I work hard, I play hard, I push my children to be as best as they can be without over-pushing (admittedly that was a struggle to not treat my kids like Army Privates when they get insubordinate).

I work from home to make my living in order to take care of my family. We were doing the at-home church option for a while, but then we realized that we were not getting fed spiritually. That in-person connection is so important that we decided that watching our church service on Facebook was not for us.  My children and wife have to wear a facemask because of the COVID restrictions that everyone feels necessary to do something about but to no real avail. I cannot wear a mask due to having cleft-lip and palate; which literally means that I cannot breathe efficiently. The plane ride home to and from Florida was almost unbearable, I held the mask away from my face at every turn.  However; this too will pass, I just hope that they don't replace one oddity for another...

Yesterday was a great day! It was a day full of excellent things: 1) Free lunch (earned), but still free because Niko and I are friends and he upholds his end of bargains better than anyone that I know! 2) ModWay got a new client that is certain to become a new home that we will place; all the while, I am learning from Adam about this new industry in a way that I have never learned before. I am loving it! 3) Finished up on a launch of a site yesterday for Blue Byte, Muscle and Therapy Acupuncture Center, will be doing updated videos for them later this spring! I also received that last bit of info for a site that I will launch here today for another nonprofit: Get Wet For A Vet! I like finishing up work, accomplishments. Finally, I will be making a Shell Shock come back; they have asked me to do their updates on the site whenever they need something added!

As I look back on days like yesterday, I also look back on my days in the past that haven't been really great, but I see where God has been there pushing me to get to this point. I would not say that I have made it yet, but I would say that my faith has been a huge piece in where I am currently at. God has given me a gift and I thank Him for this gift daily.  My hope is that I am able to continue to spread God's message of Jesus through my actions because without Him none of this would be possible!

Thank God for the gifts that He has bestowed upon you! Life is fuller with Him in it.

At any rate, until next time:

PEACE!

Season 4: Episode 6: The Stuff We Don’t Diagnose

The Stuff We Don’t Diagnose is a conversation about the weight people carry when life does not fit neatly into a label. In this episode of Common Veterans, we sit…

Service is Sacrifice

Leaving the military doesn’t mean leaving behind the need to serve. For many Veterans, the loss of purpose isn’t about the job—it’s about the sacrifice, the camaraderie, and the identity…

Season 4: Episode3: The Translation Lie

Introduction One of the most common pieces of advice Veterans hear during transition is simple: “Translate your MOS.” The idea sounds reasonable. Replace acronyms with civilian terminology. Turn missions into projects. Convert leadership into management language. Take...

The History of United States Military Challenge Coins

History Small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, challenge coins carry a surprising amount of meaning. Within the United States military, these coins represent recognition, belonging, and shared experience. They are often presented quietly — sometimes by a commander...

Season 4: Episode3: When the Uniform

Introduction We begin the way we always do. Host roll call. A moment to recognize the voices in the room and the stories behind them. This episode is brought to you by Winter Oak Studio, who continues to support conversations that matter. Toast: “To the Uniform....

Beyond Survival – Learning

Learning Importance to Veterans I didn’t set out to create a blog series on this topic. But after re-reading my last article, I realized something — this conversation is needed. The number of people who read it (or at least clicked on it) was higher than I expected....

What is Important to Veterans

I’ve got a question for you… and then a follow-up question. What is important? Why is it important to you? The answers to those questions will make immediate sense to some of you. To others, they’ll sound simple — maybe even obvious. But there’s a difference between...

Season 4: Episode 2: Civilians are Watching

Movies, television, and social media have created familiar images of Veterans — the unstoppable warrior, the haunted survivor, or the flawless patriot. While often meant to honor service, these portrayals can quietly shape how civilians view and interact with Veterans...

Anxiety of Everyday Life

Understanding Anxiety in the Life of Veterans Anxiety in the scheme and life of things comes in many different forms and changes within the confines and communities of military Veterans. Soldiering is not a minimal commitment- there are soldiers that deserve and earn...

Season 4: Episode 1: That’s Bullsh*t

We’re not starting Season 4 quietly. We’re not easing in with a polite “welcome back.” We’re kicking off 2026 with a full-throttle “that’s bullsh*t!” and we’re doing it the only way we know how — loud, honest, and unfiltered. Welcome to Common Veterans Season 4. This...
