Working for Three

Time it Takes to Read:

[read_time]

So, it’s been a wild ride the last few months! As the heat starts to come back to Indiana so does the work. Continuing the tradition of working hard and playing hard all that we can! Working for three companies is tough, not to mention the three nonprofits that I help out with.

FreedomSystem.org’s benefit is on Saturday (June 5th), and we are stoked! The benefit is going to be amazing; with a ton of entertainment, food, drinks, laughs, and dancing! My duty as the President of the organization is to shake hands, kiss momma’s, and beg for their money. The good thing is that we have an emcee, a close friend of my family, Scott McMeeken! Dinner served by Chef Tony Alberry, formerly of Dandino’s Restaurant! Cannot forget the music: High Gravity, and Acoustic Gravity! So much fun!!

Working for Three: The Companies

Blue Byte Technology Solutions has been keeping me busy with websites and general graphics! Currently working on the Gemeinhardt Corporate website. This is a very large site and will take quite a while for me to get finished. I believe that the BBTS website is about to be overhauled too! Good things happen when websites are overhauled!

Shell Shock CBDShell Shock CBD keeps me hopping from one project to the next. Never a dull moment with the company headed up by my friend John Burk.John Burk. It’s looking like we will be revamping the Tipsys & Co. website sooner than later, it’s being troublesome. We are going to totally revamp and get rid of the old design companies work. Will make it more innovative and work hard to bring people back to the site.

Company number 3: ModWay Homes, the company that has me learning more about things that I never knew that I wanted to learn. Construction design is fun! I love it! Did I mention we hired my wife?!? She is the Office Manager and Excel/Access programmer for the company to keep us all in check. Efficiency coordination is her game, SarahSarah is her name!

Rebuilding the Body

Finally; the time has come to start working out again! I have several reasons for this, but foremost is to get healthy again. Secondly, getting my accountability partner, Adam o’Toole, ready for his Green Belt test in Hapkido. Furthermore; getting my third Dan in Hapkido (3rd Degree Black Belt). For me these goals are secondary and tertiary to losing weight and gaining muscle again. We are working out three times a week, tomorrow we are mountain biking at Bonneyville Mill.

Make sure to keep up with me here by reading my blogs, and articles! I am excited to post here, and even more excited to get rid of personal social media altogether. The goal is to set up a podcast somewhere down the line on being a Dad that is working for three: three companies, three nonprofits, and for my three children!

Until next time:

Service is Sacrifice

Leaving the military doesn’t mean leaving behind the need to serve. For many Veterans, the loss of purpose isn’t about the job—it’s about the sacrifice, the camaraderie, and the identity…

Season 4: Episode3: The Translation Lie

Introduction One of the most common pieces of advice Veterans hear during transition is simple: “Translate your MOS.” The idea sounds reasonable. Replace acronyms with civilian terminology. Turn missions into projects. Convert leadership into management language. Take...

The History of United States Military Challenge Coins

History Small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, challenge coins carry a surprising amount of meaning. Within the United States military, these coins represent recognition, belonging, and shared experience. They are often presented quietly — sometimes by a commander...

Season 4: Episode3: When the Uniform

Introduction We begin the way we always do. Host roll call. A moment to recognize the voices in the room and the stories behind them. This episode is brought to you by Winter Oak Studio, who continues to support conversations that matter. Toast: “To the Uniform....

Beyond Survival – Learning

Learning Importance to Veterans I didn’t set out to create a blog series on this topic. But after re-reading my last article, I realized something — this conversation is needed. The number of people who read it (or at least clicked on it) was higher than I expected....

What is Important to Veterans

I’ve got a question for you… and then a follow-up question. What is important? Why is it important to you? The answers to those questions will make immediate sense to some of you. To others, they’ll sound simple — maybe even obvious. But there’s a difference between...

Season 4: Episode 2: Civilians are Watching

Movies, television, and social media have created familiar images of Veterans — the unstoppable warrior, the haunted survivor, or the flawless patriot. While often meant to honor service, these portrayals can quietly shape how civilians view and interact with Veterans...

Anxiety of Everyday Life

Understanding Anxiety in the Life of Veterans Anxiety in the scheme and life of things comes in many different forms and changes within the confines and communities of military Veterans. Soldiering is not a minimal commitment- there are soldiers that deserve and earn...

Season 4: Episode 1: That’s Bullsh*t

We’re not starting Season 4 quietly. We’re not easing in with a polite “welcome back.” We’re kicking off 2026 with a full-throttle “that’s bullsh*t!” and we’re doing it the only way we know how — loud, honest, and unfiltered. Welcome to Common Veterans Season 4. This...
