The Good Commonality

Jun 23, 2021 | introspection | 0 comments

Time it Takes to Read:

We are all human, that is the good commonality that we all share! The truth of the matter is that Bill and Ted have it right, “just be excellent to each other…” We all try to be that one person that stands out, or we are the one that likes to blend into the background, but we share a common goal: make it to the next day.

I’m a Christian, first and foremost. I’m not ashamed of it. I wear it proudly. Sometimes, I don’t act like it because my human emotions get the best of me. Furthermore; it is hard to digest for some people when my foul mouth gets me in trouble. I blatantly blame it on, “Oh, I was in the Army for 12 years.” While that is the case, it’s an easy excuse for me to say that, even though it’s only partially true. But it’s also a way if engaging those that are not of the same mindset originally. The good commonality of all of us is that we all want to be understood. Furthermore; we want to be heard and loved by others.

Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, or anything in between we deep down all are the same. We do have different views and all want the best for our families, our friends and colleagues. I was once told by a friend of mine that it doesn’t matter what our viewpoints are as long as we can respect each others right to have that opinion. Consequently; I ponder that viewpoint. Realizing that it’s true. I begrudgingly started to change my thought pattern. My views are still my views and I disagree with those that have a very different viewpoint, but I try to do it in a courteous manner. Try. It’s all I can do for he good commonality.

While I served in the Army, I often took the “high road” stance, which often landed me in trouble. Similarly, it always ostracized me. I had my friends, they stuck by; often ostracized themselves, creating an outcast group of sorts. Now as I watch other’s social media – I only read/watch Instagram stories – I see the same sort of tribalism that was landing me in hot water. This time it is more hateful and spiteful. Hence, stopping me from posting on my socials. This created an effort on my behalf not to answer others’ opinions that are different from mine own. Consequently, this has made my life feel more meaningful and helped me get to this point of posting my opinions on my blog, that you are reading here! You are one of the 10-20 people that will read it and I appreciate you for it!

Finally, we have almost an impasse on views throughout the world and more importantly here in America. I want you to know that I do care about you. I will listen to you. No, I will not always agree with you, and I promise that I will tell you that I think differently. AND that is okay! As long as you extend the same courtesy to me; otherwise we will not get along!

I pray that we can get rid of the hate-spewing, the chair-throwing, and get to the brass tax of being human. I want to see the good commonality again; regardless of diatribes. I ask God to forgive us all; especially myself and for my hatefulness, or what appears to be hate. I thank Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins and ask Him to allow me to try to be more like Him. I know I will fail. Know that I will cross the line at times. But I also know that I am human.

Welp, done for now! Talk to you all later! If you read it, thank you! God bless and take care.

Till next time. Leave a comment or send me a comment!

PEACE!
